By Stephen Oga (Crime Correspondent): The Nigeria Police Force has declared one Mr. Ayotunde Babatunde Adelagun 29 wanted for his alleged involvement in homosexuality, the law enforcement agents said on Tuesday 20th December, 2011.
The suspect is currently on the run, a police source discloses. The incident allegedly took place at Rita Lori hotel Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria.
The witness, Mrs. Tolani Adelagun, wife of the suspect narrated how she saw her husband Mr. Ayotunde Babatunde Adelagun and one of his co-workers Mr. Edward Obi having anal sex in the hotel room.
Mrs. Tolani Adelagun, who termed the act an abomination said she never believed her husband could be involved in such act after many years of marriage with kids, adding that this prompted her to raise alarm that attracted people.
The duo were seriously beaten by the angry mop. Mr. Ayotunde escaped and was later picked up by the police but Mr. Edward was seriously beaten and burnt alive with one other man name unknown (Jungle justice).
Blank News correspondent, Stephen Oga who later visited Surulere Divisional Police Station confirmed that the suspect Mr. Ayotunde Adelagun escaped from the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
According to the Police Public Relations Office (PPRO) Mr. Kelvin Eyamu, the suspect escaped from the hospital at midnight. He advised the members of the public to remain calm and law abiding and that the police will make sure that the suspect would be made to face the consequences of his actions in due course. The command pledged reward for anyone with relevant information to his whereabouts.
Gay is generally considered as an immoral act in Nigeria. People see it as alien, an abomination and it is against religious practices. But there is no gay law in Nigeria at the moment. Until the adopted gay bill is passed and signed into law, it still remains illegal to punish any offender in that respect.
