Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has said that he was “pleasantly surprised” by the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) bestowed on him by the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, the Governor said that he did not see it coming neither was he expecting it.
“I am pleasantly surprised by this gesture. I did not see the award coming and I was not expecting the award”, he stated.
“I am happy that the little bit that I have done has been recognized. I am really proud and delighted with this honour”, he added.
Dr. Uduaghan commended the President for the recognition saying the gesture would spur him to do more for Deltans and Nigerians in general.
In her reaction, the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Roli Uduaghan, attributed the recognition by the presidency to the benevolence of God Almighty.
She said she was excited by the honour stressing that it would spur the husband to do more for the State.
Also, the Commissioner representing Delta state at DESOPADE, Mr. Tonye Timi who felicitated with the state governor, described him as a digital governor who has earned a well-deserved honour.
