DELTA: Govt. Poised To Overcome Housing Challenges, Says Akpeki

Delta State Commissioner for Housing, Chief Paulinus Akpeki has said that the administration of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan was determined to overcome the housing challenges of Deltans.

Chief Akpeki who said this while inspecting a multi-million naira building project being constructed by the state government in Abuja, disclosed that the government was aware of the housing problems faced by Deltans and that measures were on to tackle them squarely.

He said the seven-storey building tagged “Delta Towers” would address the office accommodation needs of the state government in the Federal Capital Territory, hinting that the state Directorate of Multi-Lateral Relations and Abuja Liaison office would be accommodated in it.

Akpeki said the project which started seven years ago will also provide office accommodation for private businesses and generate revenue for the state government.

Explaining further, the Commissioner said the project was given to reputable property developers to conclude arrangements on how to manage it on behalf of the state government in order to avoid mismanagement.

The Commissioner commended Governor Uduaghan for the release of funds for the project and advised government agencies to maintain buildings that they occupy.

Also speaking, the contractors in charge of the project Mr. Khaled Abdoud and Mr. Mansour Taktouk commended the state governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for releasing funds for the project which they promised would be completed in five weeks.

They explained that a major construction feature of the project was the separation of the 32 suites in the back wing, for hotel accommodation from the office wing located in the front, to ensure privacy stressing that the project’s escalators which had started working were installed to international standards.

Other features in the building are large conference rooms, an underground water reservoir that can store sixty thousand litres of water, an Olympic size swimming pool and a spacious basement that can accommodate about five hundred cars, among others.
