Nigeria, October 03, 2015, (Blank NEWS Online) –
As Nigerians and global observers express concern over Thursday’s multiple explosions which rocked Bulumkutu area of Maiduguri, Borno State capital and killing scores of people, another bomb explosion has reportedly occurred on Friday night in Kuje Area Council and Nyanya, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, also killing scores and injuring several others.
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the explosions in a statement by its Press officer, Manzo Ezekiel.
NEMA however assured that emergency services have been deployed to the scenes to attend to victims of the explosions
“Following the unfortunate explosions that occurred this night in Nyanya and Kuje, which are two satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed its rescue teams in the evacuation of the victims to various hospitals in Abuja.
“The explosions which occurred almost simultaneously have resulted in a number of deaths and injuries but the rescue operations coordinated by NEMA are still ongoing,” NEMA Press officer stated.
According to eyewitness, the bomb was detonated around Kuje market, close to a police station.
It was gathered that vehicular traffic has been diverted while the areas have been cordoned off.
It is believed that suspected Boko Haram members may have been responsible for the two bomb explosions.
