Ahead of next month’s local government congress of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), party stakeholders in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, led by the Senator representing Delta North in the Senate, Senator (Barr.) Peter Nwaoboshi, has sued for peace, equity and fairplay among party members.
They made the appeal over the weekend during a stakeholders meeting of the party held in Akwukwu-Igbo, headquarters of the local government area.
Specifically, Senator Nwaoboshi said that there was no need for any suspicion in the conduct of the forth coming congress as the guidelines given by the leadership of the PDP will be strictly adhered to.
He advised party loyalists in the area to maintain the peace at all times as no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancour.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, disclosed that talks are ongoing among party members in the area on how to ensure a hitch-free congress, but added that it is not always possible for all persons to agree on a particular issue all the time.
Mr. Ukah however assured party members that a level playing ground will be provided for all aspirants in the area to put their popularity to test in order to have the best elected at the end of the day.
The member representing the area in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua, the local government Chairman, Mr. Louis Ndukwe, Chief Fred Ajudua, Dr. Austin Obidi, Barr. Kate Onianwa, among other PDP stakeholders in the area, attended the meeting.
